I am a Clinical Mental Health Counseling master’s student at St. John’s University, where I am continuing to develop my clinical skills and deepen my understanding of the counseling profession. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Stony Brook University, with a concentration in Sociology. I am passionate about becoming as involved as possible in the counseling field and was recently appointed Vice President of my Chi Sigma Iota (CSI) Honor Society chapter’s Executive Board.

My approach to counseling is rooted in the belief that every individual’s experiences, perspectives, and identities are valid and important. Being raised by immigrant parents from different backgrounds has shaped the way I view the world and the importance I place on multicultural perspectives. I recognize that people can hold complex and sometimes contradictory thoughts and feelings, and I strive to create a space where clients can explore all parts of themselves without judgment.

I strive to create a warm, supportive, and collaborative environment where you are encouraged to move at your own pace. I believe that a strong therapeutic relationship is built through understanding, compassion, and collaboration. My aim is to approach sessions with curiosity and an open mind while continuing to learn and engage with research in order to honor and support your unique identity, values, and experiences that you bring into the counseling space.

I am grateful for the opportunity to begin my clinical training as an intern at Helping Hands Psychotherapy, and I look forward to supporting clients as they navigate their individual experiences. Jasmeen is supervised by Christina Colon, LMHC-D, PMH-C, EMDRIA Certified.
