Social Impact

How We Care At Helping Hands Psychotherapy

At Helping Hands Psychotherapy (HHP), our commitment to social impact extends far beyond clinical care. We believe that mental health equity, especially in perinatal and reproductive mental health, requires community investment, advocacy, and meaningful partnerships. Our work reflects a deep dedication to supporting individuals, families, community (broader than Nassau County and New York State alone) as they navigate pregnancy, postpartum, infertility, loss, and parenthood.

Our Commitment to Trauma Informed Perinatal and Reproductive Mental Health Care

HHP is known for our specialized expertise in trauma informed perinatal mental health, including PMADs, postpartum depression, postpartum anxiety,  trauma across the reproductive life cycle, infertility-related stress, and pregnancy and infant loss. We aim to make high-quality, trauma-informed care accessible to all families—regardless of background, income level, or identity.

Through collaborations with local hospitals, OB/GYNs, fertility centers, pediatricians, and community organizations, we are working to ensure that support is available at every step of the care journey.

Community Partnerships & Local Initiatives

Community collaboration is central to our social impact mission. We maintain strong partnerships with:
●    Postpartum Resource Center of New York
●    Postpartum Support International
●    Nassau County Department of Health

●    Local OB/GYN and maternal-fetal medicine practices

●    Fertility and reproductive endocrinology centers

●    Pediatric and primary care practices

●    Community-based nonprofits focused on maternal and family well-being

●    Universities and training institutions

Together, these partnerships allow us to broaden access to maternal mental health services, community education, and support programs that address the root causes of perinatal health disparities.

Leadership in Maternal and Perinatal Health Advocacy

HHP plays an active leadership role in shaping maternal mental health initiatives across Nassau County. Our founder serves as the  Chair of the Nassau County Perinatal Services Network (NCPSN) and has contributed over a decade of work supporting county-wide maternal mental health advancement.

Through advocacy efforts, HHP helps:

  • Promote screening and early detection of PMADs

  • Increase access to culturally responsive mental health care

  • Support families experiencing infertility and pregnancy loss

  • Reduce racial and socioeconomic disparities in maternal health

  • Build bridges between healthcare and mental health systems

Our aim is to support healthier pregnancies, safer births, and stronger families.
