Lucy holds a master’s degree in social work from Stony Brook University’s School of Social Welfare with a specialization in Integrated Health: Physical, Psychological, and Social Well Being. She has a bachelor’s degree in cultural studies from Lang College at the New School for Social Research and is interested in human relationships and changes in mental health across the lifespan.
After many years writing and editing university online coursework for MSW, MSN and counseling programs, Lucy later wrote articles on industry expectations for masters degree holders and the careers of advanced degree graduates in healthcare. After that time spent researching and reporting, she took the opportunity to shift gears, engage her people skills, and join the profession as a psychotherapist; refocusing on working directly and collaboratively with clients to find the valuable patterns and strengths they’ve developed that will support their therapy goals. She fosters a strengths-based, client-led approach to care and provides non-judgmental space for clients to explore relationships and helpful coping patterns.
Lucy has had practicum experience in both perinatal mental healthcare at Helping Hands Psychotherapy and hospital-based caregiver support at Huntington Hospital’s Reichert Family Caregiver Center. This background has informed her interest in how clients are impacted by the stressors in both their immediate and larger social environments and the changes clients face as they transition through ages and stages of life.
Lucy is supervised by Megan Farina, LCSW, PMH-C.
