Elizabeth (Liz) Balay is a dedicated Mental Health Counseling Intern currently completing her master’s degree at Capella University. With over a decade of hands-on experience in health and human services, she has developed a deep commitment to advocating for at-risk and vulnerable populations, including individuals with Autism, Down syndrome, and IDD.
Her personal perspective as a first-generation Caribbean immigrant, gives her a foundational understanding of how cultural identity, family systems, and immigrant experiences shape an individual's worldview and mental well-being. Elizabeth’s approach is grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and she is committed to help clients explore the connections between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. She will be using evidence-based approach with cultural humility, aiming to provide therapy that is both respectful and culturally resonant.
Driven by a passion for advocacy, Elizabeth is dedicated to creating a collaborative, supportive, and empowering environment where clients can cultivate the tools and insights needed to achieve their optimal mental health.
Elizabeth is supervised by Dr. Nouna Jalilzadeh, PhD LMHC-D, LPC, NCC, PMH-C.
