Course Description:

This full-day, virtual training is designed for mental health professionals, birth workers, and perinatal care providers. The training will explore key clinical and ethical considerations in supporting individuals and families during the perinatal period through a trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and intersectional lens.

Sessions will address the ethical documentation of perinatal distress, the unique experiences and mental health needs of fathers and non-birthing partners during the transition to parenthood, and the application of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) principles and skills with perinatal clients. Participants will gain practical strategies and clinically relevant tools to enhance assessment, documentation, and therapeutic support for diverse perinatal populations.


Learning Objectives

  • Identify key ethical and clinical considerations when documenting perinatal distress, including relevant symptoms, clinical observations, risk factors, interventions, and treatment planning.
