About the event

This one day course will focus on the foundations of mindfulness for practitioners and for clients. The workshop will cover four main areas: Foundations of Mindfulness Practices; using mindfulness for working with thoughts, beliefs, and emotions; using mindfulness in therapy practice; and Lovingkindness as a vehicle for integrating mindfulness into our lives.

Participants will learn:

• Proper postures and various forms of practice (sitting, laying, walking, standing) that are conducive for mindfulness meditation.

• How meditation can help us to more fully engage with our thinking and our feelings from a place of compassion and curiosity.

• How mindfulness practices can be a part of our day-to-day routines.

• How to introduce mindfulness in our therapy practices to new and existing clients and get clients buy in.

• How mindfulness practices can support healing from trauma.

*This course includes 6.5  hours of continuing education for $150.

Introduction to Mindfulness: Foundations for Mindfulness Practice

·  Landing mindfulness practice

·  Welcome and Introduction to Mindfulness Meditation

·  Understanding the Basics: What is Mindfulness?

·  Exploring Various Postures for Meditation (Sitting, Laying, Walking, Standing)

·  Proper Posture for Mindfulness Meditation

·  Benefits of Mindfulness Meditation for Mental Health Professionals

·  Guided Practice Exploring posture (15 minutes)

Working with Thoughts Beliefs and Emotions

·  Cultivating Awareness: Mindfulness of Thoughts and Emotions

·  Techniques for Observing Thoughts and Emotions with Compassion and Curiosity

·  Integrating Mindfulness into Daily Routines

·  Guided Practice focusing on working with Thoughts and Emotions (15 minutes)
