About the event

Because of changes in understanding how ADHD manifests differently in adults, especially adult women, newly diagnosed cases have increased significantly in the last decade. Besides the challenges in self regulation and attention, many of these adults have contended with low self-esteem and ongoing frustration with the effects that their ADHD symptoms have had on their lives. In response, treatment providers would benefit from attending to both their clients' functional and emotional needs. Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) combines the focus on executive functioning and cognitive schemas of CBT with the compassion, care and values of a humanistic framework. This intersection helps clients to better understand and assess their abilities and their treatment goals in the context of a caring and compassionate relationship.
