About the event

Trauma informed care (TIC) in a therapeutic setting refers to an understanding of trauma, the awareness of the impact it can have across culture, settings and populations. TIC incorporates providing a compassionate, safe, and healing therapeutic environment. Implementing an intervention such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), developed by Dr. Marsha Linehan can be complimentary as both approaches share several principles. DBT is an evidence-based treatment that helps individuals navigate intense emotions, build healthier coping strategies, and reduce unhelpful behaviors. It focuses on core skills in four key areas: mindfulness, emotion regulation, interpersonal effectiveness, and distress tolerance. This training will focus on applying DBT principles and selected techniques within a trauma informed approach to better support clients and increase our ability as clinicians to offer practical tools to enhance emotional resilience and well-being.
