NYSED approved for 2 hours continuing ed for licensed social workers, mental health counselors and psychologists

This training is not eligible for ASWB credit.

Updated Mandated Reporter Training Requirements. Chapter 56 of the Laws of 2021 amended Social Services Law § 413 to require additional training to include protocols to reduce implicit bias in decision-making processes, strategies for identifying adverse childhood experiences, and guidelines to assist in recognizing signs of abuse or maltreatment while interacting virtually within the New York State Mandated Identification and Reporting of Child Abuse and Maltreatment/Neglect coursework. This law requires that mandated reporters, including those who have previously undergone the current training, complete the updated training curriculum by April 1, 2025.

Chapter 544 requires that training in the identification and reporting of child abuse and maltreatment be taken by chiropractors, dental hygienists, dentists, optometrists, physicians, podiatrists, psychologists, registered nurses, licensed clinical social workers, licensed master social workers, mental health counselors, marriage and family therapists, creative arts therapists, psychoanalysts, licensed

behavior analysts, certified behavior analyst assistants, school administrators/supervisors, school service personnel, and school teachers.

Stephanie Henriques, LMSW (she/her/ella) is social services strategist, licensed social worker, and doula focused on safety and thriving. She currently works as a psychotherapist for Helping Hands Psychotherapy and serves as a Deputy Director at the Administration for Children’s Services (ACS) on behalf of The City of New York.
