Adriana Scott-Wolf, LMHC
I have received my Masters in Mental Health Counseling from John Jay College of Criminal Justice and am licensed in NYS as a LMHC. I have been treating children, adolescents, and families in settings ranging from traditional outpatient clinics, home based treatment, and in school-based mental health clinics. Within the public school systems, my role has been to provide on-site mental health treatment to students and their families, handling crisis, as well as running teacher professional development, student workshops/groups, and parent workshops in order to facilitate mental health awareness throughout the entire school community. As a result of working on-site in the schools, I have witnessed the daily struggles and crisis that children and teens are facing in todays ever changing, technology based world. I also extend my work to young adults who are finding life transitions and events difficult to tackle.
I work from a client centered, strength based approach for children through young adults. I'm also trained in play therapy and sandtray therapy with the goal of becoming a Registered Play Therapist (RPT). Play is the child's language, and toys are their words. Through play, children are able to express themselves safely and work through their tough emotions or experiences. I extend this belief to adolescents and utilize expressive mediums such as games, art, and sandtray, in addition to conventional talk therapy to address emotional or behavioral concerns. I am passionate about creating a safe, and nurturing environment for each client while understanding that no two clients are the same, and no two experiences are the same.
I believe that every person, regardless of age, has a story to tell and my goal is to create a safe and nurturing environment for you to share those experiences. At the end of the day, our goal together is to help you to become the best version of yourself.
